A big thanks to everyone who came along and got involved, in the 5th Strobist Meet.
John Redmond shot and put together an oscar winning production of the shoot in Portmarnock. I was completely blown away, John’s eye & post production is outstanding and the soundtrack is wicked.
Fellow Strobist Dave Frain (Frainphoto) has posted the video on Vimeo. Check it out:
The next strobist ireland meet will take place on the 27th of september in conjunction with Dublin Kendo Kobukai (http://www.dublinkendo.com/) if you would like to attend this meet please post a comment to this post so we can start to figure out numbers and can email you with updates.
As on the day we will be limited with time 11.30-14.00 it might be advisable to already have worked out what kind of shots your after by doing a little research on the internet or we could have for example a 1 light/2 light/ 3 light set up and people can just move between the set-ups and worry about the fine tuning of the lighting instead of everybody tripping over each other moving lights around etc what do you think??

Id like to thank everybody who turned out on sunday for the Dublin strobist meet in Portmarnock. I believe it was a very successful meeting and enjoyable hopefully everybody learned something new which will help them improve their photography and lighting skills.
And also lets not forget the MUA’s who get to refine their art and the brave models! who can try out new poses and also get some excellent photos for their portfolio’s. Hopefully for the next meet we will have something different arranged than the usual model shoot….
As i am a Photographer i tend to be on a lot of other Photographers websites viewing photos reading bios etc…and one thing that puzzles me is why do photographers refer to themselves in the third person?? what other profession does this happen? Is it just photography?
And if it’s not the photographers writing these bios who is it? And do they actually charge for this crap? I mean if I’m talking to someone I’ve never met before and I’m telling them about my past i don’t say it in the third person. Personally i think to refer to yourself in the third person is a bit pretentious and do potential customers believe this was written by someone else so where did it originate from?
If you have written about yourself in the third person please tell me why is it because you were a sheep and just copied what everyone else was doing or is there method behind your madness.
